Dikra is a shared camera for one event. It is built so that it needs to know almost nothing about you, and this page is a plain description of the little it does hold.
What Dikra stores
- The photographs you take. They are stored on the server that runs this app so that the other people in your film can see them when it develops.
- A first name, if you type one. It is optional. It is shown beside your frames so people know who took what. Leave it blank and your frames are signed “Someone”.
- The name of the event and the rules its host chose.
- A cookie for each film you join. This is the whole of your identity here: a random value in your browser that says you are in this film. It is not linked to a person, an email address or a device.
- A notification subscription, only if you ask to be told when a film develops. It is an address your browser issues, and it is deleted when you turn the notification off.
What Dikra does not store
- No accounts, passwords, email addresses or phone numbers.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind. No third-party scripts.
- No advertising identifiers.
- No location. Every photograph is re-encoded before it is uploaded, which removes the EXIF metadata a camera normally attaches — including GPS coordinates.
- No contacts, no calendar, no files other than the frames you shoot.
Who can see your photographs
Only the people in the same film, and only after it develops. Until that moment nobody can see a single frame — not the other guests, and not the person who started the film. This is enforced on the server, not hidden in the interface.
Photographs are never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never handed to a third party.
Deleting things
- A host can delete an entire film — every photograph in it is removed from the server, not merely hidden.
- A host can remove a single frame, and can remove a guest along with everything they shot.
- You can ask for a photograph to be taken down using the report button on any frame, which raises it with the host.
- To have something removed when you cannot reach the host, write to the address below with the film code.
Children
Dikra is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13.
Where the data lives
On the server that runs this instance of Dikra. Photographs are files on that server’s own disk; the database holds only rows describing which film a file belongs to. Nothing is stored with a third-party photo service.
